On the etching itself it says Brazilian small birds drawn from The living birds of their natural size. Clayton of flower in Surrey. The etching is numbered 271. The other is numbered 128. Dimensions of the prints are 8 x 10. Both frames are identical measuring 17 ” x 14″. Known as the father of British ornithology and regarded as England’s foremost naturalists during the age of enlightenment, Edwards was appointed to the prestigious position of librarian to the Royal College of Physicians in London 1733.
