Original Antique Maps and Prints. Description: This attractive ichthyological print originates from “Tableau Encyclopedique et Methodique des Trois Regnes de la Nature”, the volume on Ichtchyologie. This massive work was made by l’Abbe Pierre Joseph Bonnaterre, and published in Paris by Panckoucke in 1788. He added copious portions on mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and fish to the Encyclopedie Methodique. In total he created around 400 illustrations for this work. Bonnaterre is credited with 25 new species of fish. Subject: Plate: 57 with figures 219-226. It is titled: La Diagramme, le Post, l’Ecurueil, les Trois epines, le Pilote, le Sauteur, l’Epinoche, l’Epine – Perca Diagramma, P. Formosa, Gasterosteus Aculeatus, G. Spinachia (Yellow Perch, Ruffe, Sand Perch, Three-Spined Stickleback, Pilotfish, Bluefish, Ninespine Stickleback, Sea Stickleback). Condition: Very good, given age.
