
















Exquisite Tharaud Limoges Cabinet Plate of Lobster Hand Painted by Narcisse Vivien. Here for sale is an exquisite hand painted mid to late 19th century Limoges porcelain game cabinet plate hand painted by the decoratist painter, Narcisse Vivien. Featuring a very finely hand painted lobster under water. This plate is decorated with a blue and gold gilded border and bears the marks of the family that owned them. The beautifully handpainted scene is signed Vivien for the renowned French decorator decoratist painter Narcisse Vivien. Narcisse Vivien was professor of painting at the School of Bernard Palissy in the late nineteenth century. He painted with extraordinary detail and his paintings, mainly of birds, also included images of quail, deer, boar, foxes, even birds with a frog, and many other species of wild fish and game. It is in overall very good, as pictured, used condition with wear commensurate with age and use. There is one chip on the underside of the rim (as pictured) but no other chips, cracks or repairs that I can see. There is some rubbing to the gold and blue edging and a few surface scratches consistent with age. It is signed Vivien for Narcisse Vivien. On the back it is marked Tharoud, Paris at 27, Rue Paradis.
