AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY. Not much is known about the life of Gandy, however, records show that he was a recognized artist who exhibited at the Royal Academy numerous times, specializing in classical and historical images. There are a couple of examples of book plates he has also produced which would suggest he was an accomplished illustrator going by the quality of this work. INFORMATION ON THE WATERCOLOUR. Signed in the bottom left hand corner. Watercolour and possible body colour on paper (unexamined outside frame). Frame size: 69.5cm x 52cm x 1.5cm. Aperture size: 53cm x 36.5cm. Condition IMPORTANT: In overall good condition for its age. There are no visible signs of significant marking or damage apart from purple marking in the top section which I think was caused during the creation of the watercolour, there is a horizontal fold line in the centre. There may be a possible paper repair in the top left hand section just visible below the mount. There are abrasian marks located above the right shoulder of Hestia. The colours are vivid and generally strong. The mount in the top right hand corner does not fit the watercolour sheet properly, but I believe this is due to the paper being an awkward shape or measurement. The frame is stable but does have some chips and signs of wear and tear. NOTE: I have a 10 day despatch time on this artwork to help with packaging and other commitments. However, I will post it as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to message me.
